American Psycho Band - Reunion Show at PLUSH (aka The Blue Flamimgo!)

This Thursday September 30th, American Psycho Band will be reuniting for a special reunion show! And they're bringing old friends G.O.M.E.Z. (aka GOMEZ) along with them! I'm not sure who the "Special Guests" are, but I'm sure they'll be good as well.

Blue Flamingo Tribute Shows - "Special Guest" revealed, set times, etc...

The cat is out of the bag: ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead is the "Special Guest" headlining the Blue Flamingo Tribute Thursday April 29th, at Plush (formerly The Blue Flamingo). For this show, they'll be playing as their original two-piece lineup! Their shows from back then have grown to be legendary - chaos ensued in one form or another at all of them. Although this was recorded a little later (not as a 2-piece), check out this video of them playing at the Blue Flamingo back in 1997:

This split 7" paired up Austin's GOMEZ with the band Frosted (featuring Jane Weidlin of the Go-Go's on vocals). Believe it or not, the Gomez song is about George Lucas!

G.O.M.E.Z. will be playing on day 2 of the Blue Flamingo Reunion shows, playing all your favorite old Gomez songs Saturday May 1st 2010 along with many of your other Blue Flamingo era favorites. More information can be found about that HERE.

The Blue Flamingo Tribute/Reunion Shows Announced!

Remember the Blue Flamingo? The tiny Austin punk/tranny bar on the corner of 7th and Red River that many of the bands posted and/or talked about on this blog played at? Well, the fine folks running The Blue Flamingo Facebook Page have organized a Blue Flamingo Tribute/Reunion show, with many of the local bands from the Blue Flamingo era reuniting for this special occasion. Lineup for the two-night event is below:

Both shows are benefits for the SIMS Foundation which is a really great cause, so don't be worried that someone is using this to bankroll their personal savings account. Look for many more of the records by these bands to be posted on the Texas Punk Treasure Chest in the upcoming weeks (in addition to the ones which already have), and see you at the shows.

Gomez - "23" picture disc 7"

Excellent picture disc 7" from Gomez, released in 1995 on Scooch Pooch Records. This record really benefited from some good production by John Croslin as well as some great songwriting which helped give Gomez a more mature, full sound. I very distinctly remember Paul playing this for me and a couple other friends for the first time, just after it was recorded, in his car parked in the alley behind Emo's and being really impressed at the time by how great it sounded.

Gomez will be part of the upcoming BLUE FLAMINGO REUNION, and will be playing a reunion show on Saturday May 1st @ Emo's!! More info about that can be found HERE, eventually.
