Scum Of The Earth - "Introduction To Filth" demo
Scum Of The Earth (not to be confused with the band of the same name featuring ex-Rob Zombie members who have released several cds) were a band from Dallas that I saw play at the Axiom in Houston several times (most notably opening for the Dayglo Abortions in '87 or '88). I bought their demo "Introduction To Filth" and thought it was a great mix of metal and hardcore with excellent lyrics and a damn good production for a demo. The song "Colorblind" got a lot of airplay on the Sweet Nightmares radio show on KPFT. They released a posthumous demo (called appropriately "Posthumous") in the early '90s, but that was it.
Their guitarist Chris used to write me long letters in sharpie marker on the backs of flyers and was a very nice guy. I lost touch with him and haven't seen him on any social network sites or anything like that, so I don't know what the members are up to now.
